1-ASADEF – Association for Assistance to the Physically Disabled, registered with CNPJ (Brazilian taxpayer ID) No. 20.920.252/0001-46, is located at Avenida Sebastião Jorge Lasmar, No. 514, Santo Antônio Neighborhood, in Formiga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Contact: (37) 3321-3827 | asadefminas@yahoo.com.br Founded in 1983, ASADEF was born from a strong community outreach, with the Rotary Club of Formiga as its main driver. ASADEF was instrumental in its creation and remains an active and committed partner to this day. Since then, the institution has become a regional benchmark in providing comprehensive assistance to people with physical, temporary, or permanent disabilities, operating based on the principles of solidarity, dignity, and social inclusion. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support, rehabilitation, and integration opportunities for people with physical and psychological limitations who require assistance. Its services cover areas essential for the well-being and autonomy of its users, including: a) Physical therapy and hydrotherapy, which promote physical rehabilitation and improved mobility; b) Psychology and speech therapy, which support emotional and communication development; c) General practice, with basic health care; and c) Free loan of orthopedic equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and shower chairs, ensuring dignified mobility and independence. Over more than four decades, ASADEF has established itself as an essential institution for the community of Formiga and the surrounding region, receiving widespread social recognition for its positive impact on the lives of hundreds of families. 2) Infrastructure: ASADEF's physical structure consists of: an administrative office; a telemarketing room; a meeting room; a Social Assistance office; the President's office; a craft workshop; a computer classroom; a psychology office; a physical therapy room; a heated pool for hydrotherapy and water aerobics; a cafeteria; a kitchen; and five accessible restrooms. Parking and indoor sports court. 3-Source of funds: ASADEF is a philanthropic association supported by donations from the community, businesses, and occasionally by funds from public agencies. It supplements its revenue with its own resources, which come from renting rooms and sports courts, hosting events, and fundraising through projects. Despite this diversification, it faces difficulties in acquiring equipment to improve care for people with physical disabilities. 4-Problem situation: The physiotherapy treatment offered by ASADEF is free to all patients. Physiotherapy, a health science applied to physical and functional rehabilitation, works in the diagnosis and treatment to restore motor functions and prevent diseases. Head injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, and strokes, among other events, can leave sequelae that require intensive intervention. A neurological rehabilitation program is completely individualized, focused on the recovery of essential functions, such as gait, movement, and speech. To achieve this, the physiotherapist requires appropriate equipment, which is essential for the success of the treatment. ASADEF, however, does not have the resources to purchase this equipment. Therefore, it presented its request to the Rotary Club of Formiga, which conceived this project, entitled: "Rotary and ASADEF for the Quality of Life of People with Physical Disabilities," to be submitted to District 4560 for a Global Grant. The project aims to acquire 12 pieces of equipment to enhance the institution's physical therapy sessions, as listed below: 1- Parapodem, 2- Stair simulator, 3- Treadmill with bar for neurological patients, 4- Turtle benches, 5- Electric transfer hoist, 6- Electric mini-stepper bike, 7- Adapted 20-inch Dream Bike pedal tricycle, 8- Complete step chair, 9- Adult gait trainer, 10- Electric stand table, 11- Wheelchair scale, 12- Otho Leg Press

ASADEF currently has 600 registered people with physical disabilities and 400 receiving care. Since 1983, the institution, founded with the support of the Rotary Club of Formiga, has been a regional reference and recognized by the community. It provides approximately 200 daily appointments in physical therapy, hydrotherapy, psychology, speech therapy, and general medicine, in addition to lending out free orthopedic equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and shower chairs.
