The Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Piumhi was founded in the year 1900, since then it has played a fundamental role in health care for the local population and the region. It is currently the only hospital in the region contracted by the SUS, currently offering 81 beds and 10 ICU beds and a surgical center with 5 rooms, being a microregional reference of medical complexity for maternity, anesthesia, orthopedics, general surgery, pediatrics and internal medicine, which serves the entire population of Piumhi and the cities that make up the micro-region: Pimenta, Capitólio, Guapé, Vargem Bonita, São Roque de Minas and Doresópolis. Due to its facilitated logistics, it also serves other neighboring cities such as Pains, Córrego Fundo, Bambuí, among others. The hospital is still an open door for urgency and emergency, receiving spontaneous demands from SAMU and the Fire Department. It has 4 beds in the red room. It is important to highlight that in addition to the specialties mentioned above, the surgical block performs procedures in other specialties, such as otorhinolaryngology, vascular, ophthalmology, urology, among others. The sector has an average of 12 surgeries/day, which annually totals an average of 3,000 procedures. The hospital currently has a complete and qualified multidisciplinary team that monitors patients from admission to discharge. The institution plays a fundamental role in social and economic development and employs more than 450 people, including employees and doctors. mentioned above. The hospital does not have the following items in its technological park: Syringe pump and Videolaringoscope, it also does not have conservation chambers, today it uses common refrigerators that are not efficient and do not guarantee the adequate storage of vaccines and medicines, an item that is in non-compliance with standardization and was scored by health surveillance; The Cardioverter and Orthopedic Surgical Table are scrapped, requiring immediate replacement according to the obsolescence report. All project items are essential for the quality of patient care that needs to use the red room and surgical block sectors.
