The NeuroVida, Neonatal Thermal Protection project's main objective is to acquire a 220 V Arctic Sun servo-controlled thermoregulation device with accessories for use with critically ill patients at the Interlagos Hospital and Maternity Ward. The device is essential for precise body temperature control, especially in premature newborns or patients with neurological disorders such as hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, who may benefit from controlled therapeutic hypothermia. The primary beneficiaries will be newborns and ICU patients who require safe and stable thermal support. The device will contribute to reducing neonatal mortality and meeting the goals of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the Ministry of Health in the area of highly complex maternal and child care.

Who is the target population? Premature babies (born prematurely). Very low birth weight newborns. Babies who suffered fetal distress or lack of oxygen at birth. How many are there? The Interlagos Maternity Hospital performs an average of 6,000 births per year. Of these, about 10% (approximately 600 babies) require intensive care. It is estimated that 150 to 200 babies per year are the main direct beneficiaries of the new equipment—those in the most critical conditions who truly require controlled thermoregulation. Why is it important? This equipment helps control the baby's temperature.
