The VER (Cataract Surgery Equipment) project consists of the Acquisition of Equipment (a Surgical Microscope with a ride and a Phacoemulsifier with a pen indicated for ophthalmological procedures) for carrying out cataract surgeries at the Hospital das Clinicas Serafim de Carvalho, located on Rua Joaquim Caetano, 1876 – Bairro Divino Espírito Santo, in the city of Jataí, Goiás, to serve the population of 250,000 inhabitants of 12 cities in the southwestern region of Goiás. Currently, there are around 3,301 needy people in the SUS queue to undergo eye exams and 157 patients awaiting cataract surgery and this surgical procedure does not exist in the city of Jataí. Patients are referred to the state capital, Goiânia and only 6 surgeries are performed per month. The solution to the problem is to acquire the necessary equipment for the Hospital das Clinicas Serafim de Carvalho to perform cataract surgeries in the city of Jataí, Goiás. The Hospital already has accredited doctors and will be responsible for the use and maintenance of the equipment.
