The objective is to provide the Cardiology Service of the "San Juan de Dios" Hospital in La Plata with portable echocardiography equipment with a built-in transducer, a suitcase and a transport cart. The function of this type of equipment is diagnosis by images and assistance in the application of treatments. This Grant will allow both hospitalized and outpatients to receive a rapid and efficient diagnosis, allowing not only treatment of complex and potentially fatal pathologies, but also disease prevention. This hospital is an institution that develops tasks of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of health and also teaching and research activities. Provides inpatient and outpatient care and receives patients from the emergency room and referrals from other hospitals. Its Cardiology service has 55 years of uninterrupted care, being one of the most prestigious and important in the area, and it is the headquarters of the UNLP Graduate Program in Cardiology and the Training Center for Residents of the Province. In the Cardiology area, pathologies are resolved through medical, surgical or hemodynamic treatments. Chronic, acute and congenital pathologies are covered, for example, coronary bypass, mitral or aortic valve replacements are performed, acute coronary syndromes are treated, cases of endocarditis, stent implants, amplatzer implants and transcutaneous valve prostheses are placed. In addition, this area works together with other services such as Surgery, Hemodynamics and Patient Management, and even Pneumology and Medical Clinic. Currently, the Hospital has a piece of equipment that allows similar uses in operational conditions and another in an obsolete state; but neither of the two pieces of equipment is portable, therefore, they cannot be transported from one service to another without running the risk of breaking and being out of service. Despite this, at this time, medical personnel are forced to take this risk because the demand for studies cannot fail to be covered. With this team we will optimize care for all states of complexity and within a large territorial area, generating greater diagnostic opportunities and increasing the speed with which it is possible to access them. And, in addition to diagnosing and curing patients, we will train professionals to continue the cycle, for our area and for all of Latin America.

In its capacity as Interzonal, the Hospital responds to the demands of the "Buenaerense Conurbano", the area with the fewest resources and the greatest demand for medical care, with 9 million inhabitants. In addition, it cares for patients from the rest of the Province of Buenos Aires, patients from other provinces of the country, and patients from neighboring countries, such as Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and Bolivia. This team will cover the demand of different studies for inpatients and outpatients. As an estimate, only in the case of outpatient consultations in this Hospital, 53,400 patients were attended in the year 2022.
